Hot Docs to be the Best Every
Hot Docs is a festival featuring documentaries here in Toronto, its taking place on April 30th to May 10th. This year the organizers say they have had a the largest number of submissions in its 16 year history. Hot Docs 2009 will show 171 films, to get more info check out their official website
Fucked Up at the Junos
Fucked Up has been nominated for a Juno this year and bring their awesome brand of humour with them. Lead singer Damian 'Pink Eyes' Abraham, has decided that if Fucked Up wins their Juno they will set Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's hair on fire. I think that would defiantly be an odd victory speech but to each his own. By the way Kroeger had decided if they win (any of their five nominations) they wax Abrahams back, Abraham is totally fine with that.

p.s remember next week is fundraising and any donations to the show are greatly appreciated. thanks for listening/visiting the website.

During this drive your pledges not only help the station go on air everyday but also determind what shows go on air. So if you're a fan of Blissful Thunder and you want to continue to hear it on CIUT you have to donate. Our fundraising show is on April 2nd so on that day between 12-2 please listen and pledge, if you can't listen or donate on the 2ndyou can donate anytime at the CIUT website

Jack White has a new project.
The singer just can't get enough of music not only is he a member of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and a producer he has now started a new band called The Dead Weather. He announced the new project on Wednesday in Nashville. The band has put together an album called "Horehound" apparently the album should be out this June. MGMT Wants a Fair Cut
MGMT's song Kids has been used by French President Nicolas Sarkozy's political party for promotion. MGMT have lawyered up in an attempt to get proper royalties. Isabelle Wekstein (their lawyer)says The Union pour un Mouvement Populaire party paid a standard €53 fee ($75.54 Cdn.) to France's music licensing body but this does not cover the use of the song on The Union pour un Mouvement Populaires website.

Pirates in Canada
A man faces 52 charges under the federal Copyright Act after what has been called Canada's biggest CD and DVD pirating bust in a decade. Rajdeep Singh Ramgotra, 32, was arrested last March after RCMP seized more than 200,000 CDs and DVDs from Winnipeg-based Audiomaxxx.com. RCMP said the website, which allowed customers to order CDs or download music for $3.99, had a significant catalogue that included artists such as Shania Twain, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Nelly Furtado. Investigators believe the operation, which could produce more than 11,500 discs a day, extended beyond Canada to the Caribbean, Central America and Europe. Ramgotra is accused of making for sale and selling copies of works which were actually the property of various artists.

Hey Rosetta
At the East Coast Music Awards in Corner Brook on Sunday night, Newfoundland and Labrador's Hey Rosetta! picked up a trio of honours at the annual celebration of Atlantic Canadian music. The six-member indie rock band was honoured for its album Into Your Lungs (and around in your heart and on through your blood) snagging the FACTOR recording of the year prize, as well as group and alternative recording of the year. Taking the awards podium for the third time, Hey Rosetta! frontman Tim Baker joked with the audience saying that he had "already given the speech that I prepared, twice."
